What a fantastic surprise – I was listening to the Maccabees new album and half way through the playlist came across a 7 minute documentary film. The film, ‘Can You Give It’ was shot by James Caddick, and it follows the downhill race in Gloucestershire where hundreds of people chase down an impossibly steep hill after a round of cheese. The film follows a local lad in his bid to win the race for the fourth year in a row, and is simply brilliant – the character is brilliant, the filming is beautiful and it includes lots of slow-motion images of people falling over which bizarely look very graceful as they tumble and trip. If you’ve got a moment watch it. You’ll love it.
